What’s the challenge?
To design and fabricate an exciting interactive installation or instrument that demonstrates the science of buildings and their interaction with climate and biodiversity.
Who can take part?
The project is open to all students at University of Westminster.
How does it work?
You will be collaborating with students of different years and courses as part of a team, and working directly with a primary school to co-design a brief for the installation.
You'll then develop preliminary design proposals and share models and drawings of these with the school.
In the summer (after your coursework submissions and exams) you'll be producing fabrication drawings and constructing final works in the Fablab in Marylebone Road. The installations will be taken to the school for exhibition with schoolchildren for display and future use. If the installation or instrument is designed for permanent display it will be left with the school to support their STEM teaching.
What will you get out of it?
What are the key dates?
You will need to be generally available to participate in on-campus team collaboration from 23rd May and during normal working hours for the final build from 13th to 24th June.
Who is supporting Climate Demonstrator?
The project is funded by the Quintin Hogg Trust and supported by local architectural practices.
